Confidentiality

Confidentiality is a high priority for Compassionate Care. What this means is that your counsellor will not disclose anything that is discussed within a session with anyone other than her clinical supervisor or clinical colleagues. There are exceptions to this in which counsellors are legally obligated to breach confidentiality in order to protect you or others from harm. These include when there is a suspicion or risk of child or elder abuse, and a suspicion or risk of harm to someone else or yourself. Counsellors are also legally mandated to share records when they are court subpoenaed.
